More than 10 years ago, I used Couchsurfing as a means of cheap travel accommodation, and more importantly to develop a more worldly view. Up till 2015 or so, I have been a guest, as well as hosted people all around the world, and built many friendships.
It is sad to read about its potential demise, but also a reminder that free stuff is not sustainable.
